It is always rewarding to see "The Media" taking an interest in Freemasonry, whether as a result of our local, regional, national or international activities. A selection of recent examples appear below.
There is a wide and ever expanding range of media, incorporating traditional and new technology resources. This includes everything from individual websites, newsletters and e.mailings, right through to TV, Radio and Press. But none of them can respond without input from their users, and would be left high and dry without this.
Understanding the practical needs and different operational parameters of the published media is the first step to establishing a mutually beneficial relationship, which will ensure ongoing coverage.
There will be a lively and entertaining workshop for Lodge Information Officers during the course of the next Masonic season which will include media relations, Lodge websites and how to take better photos for them!
New Assistant Provincial Grand Master
Our congratulations go to W Bro Trevor Sturt who has been invited by the Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro David Macey, to serve the Province as an Assistant Provincial Grand Master.
Trevor was Provincial Junior Grand Warden in 2000/2001 and was the first Provincial Grand Orator until he succeeded the PGM as the 2012 Festival Director. He will be invested at the next regular meeting of the Warwickshire Installed Masters' Lodge 4538 on Saturday 29th September 2012.
One in a Million
Warwickshire Freemasons are all aware of the success of the TLC Teddies scheme, both in this Province and on a national basis. Since the scheme started in 2001, over a million Teddies have been given to sick children when attending Accident and Emergency Units.
Provincial Charity Steward W Bro John Hayward shares a letter received in the Charity Office, from a grateful Mum. It reads as follows:
Our 2½ year old son recently had to attend the A&E department at Good Hope Hospital for treatment. Whilst he was being treated, he was given one of your TLC Teddies. “Fred Ted” as he became known, brought a smile to his face and was a great source of comfort to H…..., who was then admitted to the children’s ward overnight.
We would just like to say what a lovely idea these bears are and to thank you for your kindness and generosity. I’m sure that every child who receives one feels much better as a result of a teddy cuddle. Incidentally, “Fred Ted” has become a firm favourite since our return home too!
With our thanks and best wishes.
We have a number of volunteer contacts throughout the Province who ensure that A&E units are always kept supplied with Teddies – many thanks to them for their continued efforts.
