Tylers' Workshop - with a difference
Arising from his popular Tylers' seminars which have recently taken place around the Province, W Bro Ian Hart, Provincial Grand Tyler, has responded to the persistent question 'can we have a meeting that is aimed at the general work of the Tyler'?
A seminar will consequently be held on Saturday 12th March at Stirling road, from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon, to which every Brother in the Province (including Tylers of course) is invited. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be served from 9.30am.
At this meeting Ian will show brethren how to set up a Lodge room should their Tyler become unavailable. It is not aimed at training attendees to become qualified Tylers, but all present will receive a copy of the Tyler's Handbook for reference by themselves or their Lodges.
Visit from Bulgaria
Following an association established by Trinity Lodge 254 a delegation of Bulgarian freemasons led by MW Bro Lubomir Parmakov, Deputy Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria, visited the UK on a fact finding mission. Prior to attending a meeting of Trinity Lodge in Coventry, they were given a guided tour of the Textiles Factory of regalia manufacturers Toye Kenning & Spencer located at nearby Bedworth.
RW Bro David Macey, Provincial Grand Master of Warwickshire, greeted the party at their arrival at the factory and joined in the tour. Afterwards he answered a series of questions submitted by the Bulgarians aimed at improving their understanding of English freemasonry and its origins and practice. This was recorded on video by Bro Nedislav Mikolov, Director of Bulgarian Television, and will be used in the Bulgarian and UK masonic media.
At the Lodge meeting, which was attended by over sixty brethren including the Provincial Grand Master, Steven MacDonald was Initiated, with the Bulgarians enjoying the Initiate’s Chain as much as he did! The instigator of the visit, W Bro Tim Goddin, took part in the ceremony and proposed the toast to the visitors at the festive board. This was very kindly responded to by the deputy Grand Master in near perfect English.
The Bulgarians were all hosted by Trinity Brethren, who took them on a whistle-stop tour of Coventry Cathedral and Warwick Castle before leaving Coventry the following day.
As part of the ongoing association with Bulgaria, MW Bro Ivan Sariev, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Bulgaria, will be visiting Trinity Lodge for their Installation meeting in December (when Tim will be installing his son), linked in with sightseeing trips to Warwick Castle and the Warwickshire Temple, Library and Museum in Edgbaston. They will also be joined on that occasion by a delegation of Greek brethren.
