Intellectual Giants of Coventry
Several of the local lodges participated in a Quiz Night organised by Coventry Squared, with six teams battling it out with each other to answer questions on general knowledge, sport, TV, drama, entertainment and current affairs.
Nearly fifty members, partners and guests enjoyed a fish/chicken and chips supper, with the newly refurbished “Poor and Penniless” bar coming into its own.
St John’s Lodge 2811 swept up with their “B” team winning the prize pot of £64 and their “A” team winning eight lucky dips for the National Lottery as well as two bottles of Cava in the “wipe-out” round. Stivichall Lodge 5799 came last but at least achieved victory – a single bottle of Victory Ale to share between their team!

Justice Overcomes Adversity
By mid-morning on the day of their Installation meeting it had become apparent to members of the Lodge of Justice 5092 that the Master elect was not going to be available due to important business duties elsewhere.
Naturally the ‘phones were buzzing to decide on how to proceed, and with advice from the Provincial Office, the Past Masters and the Provincial Representative it was agreed to carry on and hold an ‘ad hoc’ abbreviated meeting.
The day was saved by the Presiding Officer, Provincial Senior Grand Warden W Bro Peter Manning, who with only a few hours notice to refresh his memory presented an explanation of the First Degree Tracing Board with great style and manner. Those who know this particular piece understand what a ‘tour de force’ that was and the audience, including many who had not heard the presentation before, were suitably impressed and thanked Peter with an extended round of applause and acclamation.
The evening concluded with a very happy festive board, with the slightly earlier than expected meeting finish allowing members and guests to spend extra time in socialising prior to an excellent meal and speeches, concluding with all present looking forward to their next merry meeting.
