Old Gold for Old Veseyans
Members of the Old Veseyan Lodge 7924 together with their guests and visitors celebrated the lodge’s Golden Anniversary at its Installation meeting, which was presided over by the Deputy Provincial Grand Master W Bro Michael Morris.
The celebration was held at Bishop Vesey’s School, with the ceremony being performed in the Old Big School, which dates from 1880, and the Festive Board served in the New Big School.
W Bro Edwin Maitland installed W Bro NTM into the Master’s Chair in the presence of almost 100 brethren, including Assistant Provincial Grand Master W Bro Eric Rymer and Provincial Senior Grand Warden W Bro Peter Manning, all of whom received a pair of cufflinks bearing the school crest.
The meeting was also a Cluster Meeting of the Midlands Group of the Federation of School Lodges. NTM is Chairman of the Federation and about 25 other Federation members including Immediate Past Chairman W Bro NCH Rowe, joint Secretary W Bro CC Payton and other Committee Members were present.

The January meeting of Abbey Lodge 432 coincided with temperatures below freezing point, heavy falling snow and many dangerous or even impassable roads. Meetings around the Province were being abandoned, and apologies for Abbey’s meeting were coming in thick and fast.
But this didn’t prevent fifteen of Abbey’s members, and four visitors, braving the elements to attend the installation of Bro Tom Collins as Worshipful Master. Tom also brought with him one of their disabled brethren.
What is quite remarkable however, is that Tom is 86 years old. He has been a Mason for nearly 60 years, having been initiated in Gibraltar, and this is his first time in the chair. The Installing Master was W Bro Rex Perkins, a sprightly 5 years younger!
We wish Tom a wonderful year as Worshipful Master, and a speedy recovery from his recent fall.
