Driving a banger from Cornwall to Morocco

Gib or Bust

Simon Jordan of Dunsmore Lodge No. 6442 has taken on a mammoth challenge in aid of the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance. Not only does this consist of a journey across Europe, it also includes an additional challenge or two on the way.

In his own words, Simon described the task ahead, "The rally will start on September 30th September leaving St Austell, Cornwall on Sunday lunchtime and finishing in Morocco on Friday 5th October.

"The only snag is that our car has to cost around a measly £500 to be entered in to the Banger Rally category. We will be driving on some of Europe’s finest and most scenic roads coaxing our chosen wreck to the finish point.

"Over £2000 worth of cash prize’s will be awarded to the teams scoring the most points in each of the daily tasks and the overall winner will also receive a suitable trophy!

"We will be doing our best to raise as much money as we can for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance."

If you are able to support Simon in his endeavours any help will be gratefully received and faithfully applied. You can sponsor him at: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=simon_and_kevin&pageUrl=1

Extending the hand of friendship overseas

Recently W Bro Paul Skinner of St Johns Lodge No 2811 had the opportunity to visit Sir Stanford Raffles Lodge No 7444 in the District Grand Lodge of the Eastern Archipelago residing in the Singapore Lodge rooms.

Singapore Visit

Paul presented a framed Summons to the Worshipful Master of their lodge W Bro Paul Youg commemorating the visit. The summons had been signed by all the Brethren of St Johns 2811 and the visitors on the night from their last regular meeting held in Coventry in March. This was well received by him and their 60 strong brethren. They suggested that it should be mounted within the Lodge rooms in the near future in a convenient place of prominence, for future visitors to their lodge to admire, and thanked W Bro Paul and the Brethren of St Johns Lodge no 2811 for their kind gesture.
