Athelstan Lodge helps Atherstone Scouts

Athelstan Lodge helps Atherstone Scouts

After being contacted by the Leader of Atherstone Scouts, who had received a grant of £100 from Grand Lodge, the Master, Wardens and Secretary of Athelstan Lodge 1333 visited them at their Headquarters and were very impressed. As a consequence the Scouts were invited back to the Lodge Rooms where the Junior Warden gave a very interesting talk, outlining the many similarities between Freemasonry and Scouting. This was very well received by all the Scouts who asked many questions and showed great interest.

The lodge subsequently donated £600 to help send the pack on a camping holiday in the summer. They also donated £600 to Mancetter Scouts and a further £330 to Polesworth Abbey Scouts towards the building of a new Headquarters.

The annual Federation of School Lodges Festival was held under the Banner of the Old Strodians' Lodge 7803, at Strodes' College, Egham. During the Business Meeting, Officers of the Federation were elected, with Warwickshire Mason W Bro NT Malden becoming Chairman.

There was also a Lodge Meeting, at which the roll of Lodges attending was called and a presentation concerning Royal Masons was given. This was followed by a Festival Dinner in the Sports Hall, attended by the Principal of the College.
