Fire Service Charity reaches Lincolnshire
In the true spirit of Brotherly Love and Relief the Master of the Fire Service Lodge 8401, W Bro Gerry Sansom and his wife Cynthia (pictured), presented a cheque for £655 to the Pink Rose Appeal in North Lincolnshire. The appeal is dedicated to raising funds towards the new Breast Care Unit at Grimsby's Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, where, since 2007, patient numbers have risen from just 700 to almost 4,000 per year.
As the Lodge name implies, Brethren are mainly serving or former Fire Service personnel, or its associated activities, and consequently, draws its membership from across the UK. As a result, the Lodge has developed a tradition of supporting charitable organisations, both masonic and non-masonic, outside the geographical area normally associated with the Province of Warwickshire. These charities have included mountain rescue, cancer research and the British Heart Foundation but have not prevented the Lodge from exceeding its target for the Warwickshire 2012 Festival, for which it duly received its Festival Maul.
