Following her treatment at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, by a highly skilled surgeon (Mr Simon Bramhall) using conventional surgical intervention, Mrs Judy Davies and husband John, who is the Worshipful Master of Heart of England Lodge 6549, were determined to support the hospital’s Cyberknife Appeal. 

This resulted in a donation of £700, raised from the Lodge’s social events, towards a £6.5 million appeal to make the cancer treatment centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital not only one of the best in the UK, but amongst the best in the world. 

It will help provide access by patients to the world's most advanced radiotherapy treatment machines such as TomoTherapy and Cyberknife. These machines will save lives and offer hope to cancer patients whose tumours may be currently inoperable. With this appeal, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be the first hospital in the UK outside of London to have a Cyberknife machine.
